NT Branch member Sherronna noticed some large clearing due to Property Development in her local area and she knew the habitat was home to many colonies of the T. mellipes stingless bees. Sherron-na shared the information with other branch members and fellow member Glenn created a land searching event for the New ANBA NT Branch members. On Sunday 20 August, a group of six met at the site of the clearing to assess mul-tiple large piles of cleared trees to try and identify hives that can be rescued prior to burn off. The event created an understanding of the local na-tive bees and how to find them in their natural environment. NT branch members David, Anne, Wesley, Glenn and Sherronna enjoyed spending the morning together, getting to know each other better and learning about each other’s interest and knowledge in native bees.
